4、notasuniqueanartasthatofAmericadespitethefactthatJapaneseartinthepastwasdistinguishedbyitsoriginality.ItmaywellbethatancientJapaneseart,consideredcritically,istheartofalessadvancedsociety,butthisdoesnotmeanthataJapanesestyleofanimationcanorshoulddispensewithit
5、.Whetherwelikeitornot,traditionalartmustbethefoundationofatrulyJapaneseanimatedcartoon.Originalityinthenewformwillnotbeattainedbyignoringthepast,fortheanimatedcartoon,likeothermodernformsofart,isadevelopmentofinheritancesfromthepast.IthasbeenpointedoutbyS.M.Ei
