2、s,andclimateforanorganisationtobecomeinnovativeandtomotivateteamexpectationstowardinnovations.Thisstudyexplorestheleadershipstylesthatengineersregardassignificantforinnovationinthepublicsector.Exploratoryfactoranalysis(EFA)wasconductedtoidentifytheprincipalleadershipstylesinfluencinginnovationintheA

3、ustralianPublicService(APS),usingsurveydataextractedfromthe2014APSemployeecensuscomprising3 125engineeringprofessionalsinCommonwealthofAustraliadepartments.EFAreturnedatwo-factorstructureexplaining77.6%ofthevarianceoftheleadershipforinnovationconstruct.Inthisstudy,theresultsfromtheEFAprovidedacleare

4、stimationofthefactorstructureofthemeasuresforleadershipforinnovation.Fromtheresults,thetwofactorsextractedweretransformationalleadershipandconsiderationleadership.Intransformationalleadership,aleadervaluesorganisationalobjectives,inspiressubordinatestoperform,andmotivatesCorrespondingauthor:follower

5、sbeyondexpectedlevelsofworkstandards.ConsiderationleadershipreferstothedegreetowhichaleadershowsconcernandexpressionsofsupportforWaritWipulanusatsubordinates,takescareoftheirwelfare,treatsmembersasequals,anddisplayswarmthandapproachability.ThesefindingshighlighttheroleofleadershipastheGriffithUniver

6、sity,GriffithSchoolofEngineering,Australiamostcriticalpredictorwhenconsideringthedegreetowhichsubordinatesstriveforw.wipulanusat@griffith.edu.aucreativityandinnovation.Bothtransformationalandconsiderationleadershipstylesarerecommendedtobeincorporatedintomanagementtraininganddevelopmentprograms.Thiss
