2、hechallengeforPRPistoestablishapatternofpaywhichisseenasfairbyemployees,whichusesreasonablyobjectivemeasuresofperformance,whichcanstandthestrainofchange,whichsustainstheobjectofthesystem,isnottoolargeaportionofthepaypacketandisnottoocostlrateforthejob.ytoadminister.Ifa‘conven

3、tional’viewoffairnessismaintainedinrelationtoPRP,thenetreturnsmaynotbesufficientforthemajorityofemployees.Muchdependsonwhetheranewconceptoffairnessisemergingwhichacceptsdifferentialincreasesbasedonperformanceratherthantherateforthejob.Therehasbeensubstantialgrowthintheuseofpe

4、rformancepaysystemsoverthepast15years.Whiletheoriginalperformancerelatedpaysystemswereconcentratedintheprivatesector,anincreasingnumberofpublicsectoremployershaveintroducedschemesrecently,orareconsideringdoingso.Whatisit?Performancepayschemeslinkpaytoameasureofindividual,grou

5、pororganisationperformance.Thereisawidevarietyofmethodsused,butallschemesassumethatthepromiseofincreasedpaywillprovideanincentivetogreaterperformance.ThemostcommontypesofperformancepayTherearemanydifferentformsofperformancerelatedpay,whichmaybeusedontheirownorsidebyside.Emplo
