3、llasthereliabilityofproductionsystems.Theadaptationandyieldingabilityof19moderncastoroilgenotypeswerestudiedfor3yearsintwositesofNorthernGreece.Genotypescombininghighseedandoilyieldanddesirablemorphologicalcharacteristicsweretestedfor2or3years,whereastherestweretestedfor
4、1yearonly.Thegrowingperiodinbothlocationswaslongenoughforripeningthe®rstracemeandanumberofsecondaryracemesdependingonthegenotypes.TheplantheightwasdependentmainlyonthegenotypesbutalsowasaVectedbythesiteandtheyearoftheexperimentationandrangedfrom79to278cm.Theseedyieldvari
5、edbetween2.5and5.0Mgha−1,valuesthatareamongthehighestreportedintheliterature.Theseedyieldwashigherinthesitewhereplantsproducedandripenedmoresecondaryracemes.Theseedoilcontentwasdependentmainlyonthegenotypeandrangedfrom44.5to54.2%.Theoilyieldfollowedthechangesinseedyield.
