4、seddifficultiesinpeople’scommunicationandtranslationwork.Theerrorsinpeople’stranslationorinterpretationworksareattributedtotheirmisunderstandingtheEnglishsentenceswithambiguities.Ambiguityisoneoftheformsoflanguage,includingwords,sentences,whichlacksclearnessandhastwoormoreambiguousmeaningsin
5、understandingthesemanticmeaning.Itexistsineverylanguage,thereisnoexceptiontoEnglishwhichhasalargenumberofvocabularies.Kess,F.R.andHoppe,A.R.(1981)holdtheopinionintheirmonographAmbiguityinPsycholinguisticsthatambiguityiseverywhereinlanguage.Theysay:“uponcarefulconsideration,onecannotbutbeamaz
6、edattheubiquityofambiguityinlanguage.”(Kess,F.R.andHoppe,A.R.,1981)“Translation,essentially,isthefaithfulrepresentation,inonelanguage,ofwhatiswrittenorsaidinanotherlanguage.However,asprovedbypractice,translationcannotbeviewedasamerelylinguisticundertaking,butshouldberegardedasanaspectofalarg
