4、vebeencalledLagoonIslands.Alongandbrilliantlywhitebeachiscappedbyamarginofgreenvegetation;andthestrip,lookingeitherway,rapidlynarrowsawayinthedistance,andsinksbeneaththehorizonFromthemast-headawideexpanseofsmoothwatercanbeseenwithinthering.Theselowhollowcoralislandsbea
5、rnoproportiontothevastoceanoutofwhichtheyabruptlyrise;anditseemswonderful,thatsuchweakinvadersarenotoverwhelmed,bytheall-powerfulandnever-tiringwavesofthatgreatsea,miscalledthePacific.November15th.--Atdaylight,Tahiti,anislandwhichmustforeverremainclassicaltothevoyageri
