3、tion.Humancoronaviruses(HCoV)arepositive-strandedenvel-Thisverticaltransmissionwasstudiedwith159samplesopedRNAvirusesandwerediscoveredbyTyrrelBynoeinfrommother-childcouples:maternalvaginal(MV)andthe1960s[1].Twoserotypes,229-EandOC-43,arerespiratory(MR

4、)samplesduringlabor;andnewborngastricresponsibleforuptoone-thirdofcommoncoldsinadultssample(NG)withdetectionofHCoV(229E,OC-43,NL-[2].Sincetheidentificationofanewcoronavirusthatis63,HKU1)viarealtimeRTPCR.HCoVwasdetectedinresponsibleforsevereacuterespir

5、atorysyndrome(SARS)12samples(229E:11;HKU1:1)fromsevenmother-child[3],newtechnologicaltoolshaveenabledtherecentcouples.Forthreecouples,onlyMRtestedpositive(casesdiscoveryoftwonewHCoV:NL-63andHKU1[4,5].1–3).Fortwoothercouplesallthreesamples(MV,MRandTran

6、smissionofHCoV,likemanyotherviruseswithNG)testedpositive(cases4and5).Forcase6,onlyMVrespiratorytropism(rhinovirus,respiratorysyncytialvirus,andNGtestedpositive.Incase7,onlyMVwaspositive.humanmetapneumovirus),isinter-humanviarhinophar-Possibleverticalt

7、ransmissionofHCoVwashypothesizedyngealsecretions[6].WerecentlydescribedtheroleofinthispilotstudyandrequiresfurtherinvestigationonaHCoVincasesofnewbornnosocomialinfection[7–10].largerscale.Thesevirusesmaybeintroducedintothehospitalbypersonnel,visitors,
