3、sisanditsstructuralpro-teinsmayplayaroleinthisprocess.Objectives:TodeterminewhetherthestructuralproteinsMandNofSARS-CoVinduceapoptosis.Studydesign:Weinvestigatedhumanpulmonaryfibroblast(HPF)cells,weretransfectedwithplasmidscontainingtheMorNgene,byTdT-mediateddUTPnicke

4、ndla-beling(TUNEL),Hoechst33342stainingfornuclei,andobservationofmorphology.Results:Wefoundthatintheabsenceofserumabout16.34%ofcellstransfectedbypcDNA3.1-Mand21.72%ofN-transfectedcellsshowedtypicalapoptoticcharacteristics,significantlydifferentfrommock-transfectedcell

5、s(only6.23%,p<0.01).Furthermore,thecellsthatwereco-transfectedwithMandNproteinsshowedmoreobviousphenomenaofcelldeath(about36.03%).TherewasastatisticalsignificancebetweenM-transfectedcellsandco-transfectedcells(p<0.01),andaremarkabledifferencebetweenN-transfectedcellsa

6、ndco-transfectedcells(p<0.01).Conclusions:TheresultsshowthatMandNproteinsofSARS-CoVcaninduceapoptosisofHPFcells.Co-transfectionofMandNenhancestheinductionofapoptosisbyMorNalone,whichalsosuggeststhatthestructuralproteinsofSARS-CoVmayplayanimportantrolenotonlyintheproc
