5、fferentcountriesofEuropesince1986(1,2,8).IthasbecomeverywidespreadamongtheswinepopulationsinBelgium,Denmark(4),France,Great-BritainandotherEuropeancountriesbutitspathogenicityhasnotbeenwelldefined.Noparticularclinicalsignwasobservedafteranexperimentalinfection,bytheoronasalroute,in
6、toyoungpiglets(8).However,mildrespiratorydisordersinfatteningpigshavebeenassociatedwiththenaturalinfectiononthefield(3,5).Intratrachealinoculationhasbeenusedwiththepiginfluenzaviruses(6)andwithPRCV(2).ThispaperdescribesfurtherexperimentalinfectionsofPRCVusingintratrachealinoculatio
7、n.MaterialandMethodsPigsTenBelgianLandracexPietrainspecificpathogenfreepigsobtainedbyhysterectomyweredividedinto2groups,at90days-of-age(averageweight38kg).ThefirstgroupoffivepigswasinfectedwithaPRCVstrain.Theothergroupfromthesameorigin,wasinoculatedinsimilarconditionsbutwithMinimum
