3、factors,anumberofindividualriskfactorsareimportant,too.Thedistinctionbetweenwork-relatedfactorsandindividualfactorsiscrucialinassessingtheriskandinderivingpreventivemeasuresinoccupationalhealth.Inexistingstudies,theoccupationalstressisdeterminedmainlybysurv
4、eysinemployeesand/orbymakingassumptionsaboutindividualoccupations.Directevaluationofoccupationalexposurehasbeenperformedonlyexceptionally.TheaimoftheresearchprojectArGonistheassessmentofdifferentoccupationalfactorsinrelationtoindividualfactors(e.g.constitut
5、ionalfactors,leisuretimeactivities,sports),whichmightinfluencethedevelopmentand/orprogressionofknee(OA).Theprojectisdesignedasacasecontrolstudy.Toraisevaliddataaboutthephysicalstressassociatedwithoccupationalandleisuretimeactivities,patientswithandwithoutkn
6、eeOAarequestionedbymeansofastandardisedquestionnaireandaninterview.Therequiredsamplesizewasestimatedto800casesandanequalnumberofcontrols.Thedegreeandlocalisationofthekneecartilageorjointdamagesinthecasesaredocumentedonthebasisofradiological,arthroscopicand/
7、oroperativefindingsinapatientrecord.Furthermore,occupationalexposureisanalysedatselectedworkplaces.Toevaluatetheanswersprovidedinthequestionnaire,workanalysisisperformed.Inthisresearchproject,specificinformationonthecorrelationofoccupationalandindividualfac
