2、an-derived,colostrum-deprivedpigletswereinfectedoronasallywithCV777coronz~virusonthesecondorthirddayoflife.Twouninfectedpigletswerecontrols.Afteranincubationperiodof22hoursto36hours,allprincipalsshowedseverediarrhea.Thepigletswerekilledatdifferenttimeinterva
3、ls.Viralparticleswerefoundinthejejunalvillousepithelialcellsfrom18hoursafterinfectionuntilfourdaysafterthebeginningofdiarrhea.Inthecolonicepithelialcells,viralparticlesanddegenerativelesionswerefoundonlyinthepigletkilled36hoursafteronsetofdiarrhea.Degenerati
4、velesionsintheenterocytesbeganat18hoursafterinfectionandweremostpronouncedinthejejunumattheonsetofclinicalsigns.From24hoursonaftertheonsetofclinicalsigns,threecelltypeswerefound:degeneratedvirus-containingenterocytes;cuboidalcells;andcolumnar,highlyvacuolate
5、dcellscontaininglipiddroplets.Outbreaksofviralenteritisinpigletsusuallyareassociatedwithtransmissiblegastroenteritisvirusorporcinerotavirus.Recently,acoronavirus-likeagentantigenicallydifferentfromtheknownporcinecoronavirusesoftransmissiblegastroenteritisand
6、hemagglutinatingencephalomye-litishasbeenseenintheintestinalcontentsofpigletswithdiarrhea[7].Someclinicalandvirologicalcharacteristicsofthisvirushavebeendescribed[3].Inourpreviousarticle,wedescribedthehistologicalandhistochemicaleffectsofexperimentaloronasal
