3、rarymerit,butalsoforitsdocumentationofwhatwriterGertrudeSteincalledthe"LostGeneration."AfterWWI,manyyoungAmericanslefttheirnativecountry,bitteroverthewarandseekingadventure.Acircleofartisticexpatriatesappeared--amongthemHemingway,F.ScottFitzgerald,SherwoodAnderson,EzraPound,

4、andPabloPicasso.HemingwayandFitzgeraldemployedtheirkeensocialobservationinwritingTheSunAlsoRisesandTheGreatGatsby,respectively,widelyconsideredthetwomasterpiecesofLostGenerationfiction.Theunfortunatemembersofthislostgenerationaretrulyestrangedfromtheirmothercountries.Theyfee

5、lasifsocietyhasledthemastray,withnomeansofreturn.Theyblindlyfollowordersandsocietyandsuddenlyfindthemselvesontheoutskirtsofaworldthattheyoncethoughttheyknew.Nowtheyarewithoutacountryandwithoutapurpose.Theseexpatriatesaregropinginthedarkshadowsofthisworldforsomesemblanceofmor
