3、sinlocalorregionalspacesbecomesparticularlyclearwithbiggercities.Citieshavealwaysbeentheplacewhereradicalchangebecomesvisiblefirstofall.Theyunderliepermanentchangeatthemacro-levelofeconomyandculture,drivenbythemotorofchangingsocialstructures(Zukin1995).Also,citiesarethemselv
4、esthecauseandlocationofprocessesofsocialchange.Inparticular,bigcitiescreatestimulationofstructuralchangeforsocietyasawholebythemomentumofhowtheyaresocially,politically,culturallyandeconomicallyconstituted.Thesocial,economicandculturalchangewhichresultsinnewdevelopmentsofurba
5、ncultureinfluencesthemeaningandperceptionofculturaltourism.Thebasicthesisofthispaperisthatbywayofthesetransformationprocessestowardsaknowledge-based“servicecity”anewwayofembeddingsocialandeconomicprocessesintolocalplacesishappening.Creativityanddifferenttypesofknowledgeplaya
6、majorroleinthedevelopmentofculturaltourism.Theinteractionofbuiltenvironment,socialstructuresandprocessesatcreativeplacesinsomeneighbourhoodsisseenasaresourceforculturaltourism.Thebasicthesisactsontheassumptionthatplacesexpresstheircomplexurbanidentitiesbywayofdifferent“langu
