4、esweepingstructuralchangesthathaveoccurredinLatinAmericaoverthepastfewdecadestoacriticalassessmentofmovementsinBoliviaandMexico.Additionally,attentionispaidtothelessonsmovementsinNorthAmericacandrawfromthesevibrantandinspirationalstruggles.Whydoyouthinkit’
5、ssocriticaltothinkaboutLatinAmericaandglobalizationrightnow?LatinAmericaisataspecialhistoricalconjunctureintermsofresistancetoglobalcapitalism.Neoliberalismbecamethedominantmodel,achievinghegemonyintheGramsciansense,whenitbecameaconsensusamongglobalelites.
6、Eliteswhomighthavebeenopposedtoneoliberalismsuccumbedtotheprogram,andevenamongpopularforcesasensedevelopedthattherewasnoalternativetoneoliberalism.Butthathegemonycrackedinthe60UPPINGTHEANTI,NUMBERTHREElate1990sandearly21stcentury.TheArgentinecrisiswasamajo
7、rsymbolicturningpoint.Fromthatpointon,neoliberalismbecamemoribund.Itshegemonywascracked.ThisisthecaseworldwidebutitisparticularlysoinLatinAmerica.ItisalsoinLatinAmericathatpossiblealternativesareemerginginthestrugglesagainstneoliberalism.LatinAmericaisatth
