2、acceptanceofaGeneralCodeofPracticebyCodexwillprovideuniformguidanceforallcountriestoconsiderinattemptingtocontrolandmanagecontaminationbyvariousmycotoxins.InorderforthisCodeofPracticetobeeffective,itwillbenecessaryfortheproducersineachcountrytoconsiderthegeneralprinciplesgiveninth
3、eCode,takingintoaccounttheirlocalcrops,climate,andagronomicpractices,beforeattemptingtoimplementprovisionsintheCode.Itisimportantforproducerstorealizethatgoodagriculturalpractices(GAP)representtheprimarylineofdefenseagainstcontaminationofcerealswithmycotoxins,followedbytheimplemen
4、tationofgoodmanufacturingpractices(GMP)duringthehandling,storage,processing,anddistributionofcerealsforhumanfoodandanimalfeed.2.Therecommendationsforthereductionofmycotoxinsincerealsaredividedintotwoparts:recommendedpracticesbasedonGoodAgriculturalPractice(GAP)andGoodManufacturing
5、Practice(GMP);acomplementarymanagementsystemtoconsiderinthefutureisHazardAnalysisCriticalControlPoint(HACCP)principles.3.ThisGeneralCodeofPracticecontainsgeneralprinciplesforthereductionofvariousmycotoxinsincerealsthatshouldbesanctionedbynationalauthorities.Nationalauthoritiesshou
6、ldeducateproducersregardingtheenvironmentalfactorsthatpromoteinfection,growthandtoxinproductionincerealcropsatthefarmlevel.Emphasisshouldbeplacedonthefactthattheplanting,preharvestandpostharveststrategiesforaparticularcropwilldependontheclimaticconditionsofthatparticularyear,takin
7、gintoaccountthelocalcrops,andtraditionalproductionconditionsforthatparticularcountryorregion.Thereisneedtodevelopquick,affordableandaccuratetestkitsandassociatedsamplingplansthatwillallowtestingofgrainshipmentswithoutunduedisruptionofoperations.Proceduresshouldbeinplacetoproperlyh
