4、leasedtoforwardthefinalreportoftheDSBTaskForceontheRoleofAutonomyinDoDSystems.TheTaskForcewasaskedtostudyrelevanttechnologies,ongoingresearch,andthecurrentautonomy-relevantplansoftheMilitaryServices,toassisttheDoDinidentifyingnewopportunitiestomoreaggr
5、essivelyuseautonomyinmilitarymissions,toanticipatevulnerabilities,andtomakerecommendationsforovercomingoperationaldifficultiesandsystemicbarrierstorealizingthefullpotentialofautonomoussystems.TheTaskForcehasconcludedthat,whilecurrentlyfieldedunmannedsy
6、stemsaremakingpositivecontributionsacrossDoDoperations,autonomytechnologyisbeingunderutilizedasaresultofmaterialobstacleswithintheDepartmentthatareinhibitingthebroadacceptanceofautonomyanditsabilitytomorefullyrealizethebenefitsofunmannedsystems.Keyamon
7、gtheseobstaclesidentifiedbytheTaskForcearepoordesign,lackofeffectivecoordinationofresearchanddevelopment(R&D)effortsacrosstheMilitaryServices,andoperationalchallengescreatedbytheurgentdeploymentofunmannedsystemstotheaterwithoutadequateresourcesortimeto
