2、wmentsorchoicesets,forex-amplethroughdisruptioninclassrooms(Lazear,2001),diseaseexposure(MiguelandKremer,2004),orthespreadofinformation(FosterandRosenzweig,1995;MunshiandMyaux,2006;DufloandSaez,2002).Peerscouldalsoaffectotherspreferences.Forexample,seeingfriendsconsumeanaddictivesubstancecouldact
3、asacueandstimulatedesireforthatsubstance(Laibson,2001).Moreover,currentpeersmaynotonlyaffectcurrentbehaviorbutalsochoiceoffuturepeers,creatingevenlargereffectsinthefuture(Akerlof,1997).Yetpeereffectsarenotoriouslydifficulttoestimateeconometricallybecauseinmostcontexts,peoplechoosewithwhomtheyasso
4、ciate.Hence,whilesimilaritiesinbehavioramongmembersofagroupmaybeduetopeereffects,itisdifficulttoruleoutthepossibilitythatgroupmembersmaybesimilartoeachotheralongunobserveddimensionsormayhavecometogetherwiththeintentionofachievingsimilaroutcomes.Thispaperestimatespeereffectsinthecontextofalargesta
