3、arbonsphereswerecarbonizedandgraphitizedatdifferenttemperatures,namely1200°C,2100°C,2400°Cand2800°C,inordertostudytheimpactofthecarbonstructuralproperties,i.e.particlemorphologyanddegreeof-graphitization,ontheTFSIanionintercalationbehaviorintothesegraphitizedcarbonsusedascathodematerialindual-ionc
4、ells.Thestructuralpropertiesofthecarbonspheres,suchasparticlesize,surfacemorphology,specificsurfaceareaandcrystallinityafterheat-treatmentarecharacterizedbyscanningelectronmicroscopy,X-raydiffractionandnitrogenadsorptionmeasurements.Consequently,thestructuralcharacteristicsarecorrelatedtotheelectr
5、ochemicalresultsforapplicationascathodematerialindual-ioncells.Inthiscontext,ahighdegreeofgraphitizationismandatorytoachieveahighreversiblecapacity.IntroductionSincegraphiticcarbondisplaysaredox-amphotericcharacter,itispossibletointercalateabroadrangeofdifferentcationsandanionsbetweenitsplanargrap
6、henesheetsatspecificpotentials(1,2).Byintercalationofcations,likelithiumions,donor-typegraphiteintercalationcompounds(GICs)areformed,whiletheintercalationofanionsyieldsacceptor-typeGICs(3).Inrecentpublications,weproposedthedual-ioncellaselectrochemicalenergystoragesystemusinggraphiteaspositiveelec
7、trodematerial(3-8).Inthistypeofcell,notonlythelithiumionsparticipateinthestoragemechanismbutalsotheelectrolyteanionstakepart.Therefore,theelectrolyteneedstobeconsideredasactivematerialaswell.Sincethestoragemechan
