3、chweresynthesizedhydrothermallyintheC±H±O±Nisystemat100MPaand730±8008Cby®rstestablishingapost-pyrolysisC±H±Oequilibriumfollowedbyanincreaseinpressureduringwhichtimegrowthofgraphiticcarbonoccurred.DependingonthesizeoftheNicatalystparticles,¯ake-likegraphiteorcarbontubules

4、wereformed.Tubeswerealsosynthesizedwithoutwater,i.e.,intheC±H±Nisystem,butthesetubeshadmultipleinternalcapswhilethoseproducedwithwaterpresenthadveryfewinternalobstructionsandalargeinsidediameter.Theexceptionalqualityofthetubewallsisdemonstratedbystraightandperfectlattice

5、fringinginthetubewallsandelectrondiffractionspotpatternsfreeofdiffuseamorphousrings.Ramanspectralevidenceshowshighsimilaritytothespectraobtainedfromhighpuritynaturalgraphite.Thehighintegrityofhydrothermalnanotubesisdemonstratedbytheexistenceofliquidinclusionstrappedinsid
