4、soonhavebeenwellrecognized.InChina,however,thedebateoverChinaEnglishandChinglishisstillheatedamongthelinguistsandEFLteachers.InacountrywithmillionsofEnglishlearners,thestandardstodistinguishthetwotermsandthemethodstoteachareforemostessential.2.DefinitionsandfeaturesofChinaEnglishIn1980,Professor
5、GeChuanguifirstproposedthetheoreticaltermChinaEnglishinhisthesisnamedIssuesonEnglish-Chinesetranslation.HeproposedthatChinaEnglishistheEnglishthatexpressesideasandthingsthatspeciallyconnectwithChina,suchasFourBooks,eight-leggedessays,MayForthMovement,FourModernizationsandsoon.HepointedoutthatChi
6、naEnglishisStandardEnglishbutitsbackgroundshouldbeexplainedwhenintroducedtonativespeakersofEnglish.ManyotherscholarssuchasLiWenzhong,ZhangPeichengandWangPeirongalsoproposedseveralversionsofChinaEnglish.AlthoughdifferentscholarshavedifferentdefinitionsofChinaEnglish,itisobviousthattherearesomefea
