5、yticsubunitgenesinV.dahliae,namedVdPKAC1andVdPKAC2.Keywords:AphylogeneticanalysisshowedthatVdPKAC2groupswithfungalPKAcatalyticsubunitsthatappearSignalingtoplayaminorroleinPKAactivity.ThisgenewasexpressedconsiderablylowerthanthatofVdPKAC1.Pathogenicity
6、genesAlthoughdisruptionofVdPKAC1didnotaffecttheabilityofV.dahliaetoinfectthroughtherootsofWiltdiseasetomatoandeggplant,diseaseseveritywassignificantlyreduced.Sincepathogen-derivedethyleneispre-sumedtoplayamajorroleinsymptominductioninvascularwiltdiseas
7、es,ethylenegenerationwasmea-suredinfungalculture.ThemutantsdefectiveinVdPKAC1producedlessethylenethanthecorrespondingwildtypestrains,suggestingaregulatoryroleofPKAinethylenebiosynthesis.Growthratesofthesemutantsweresimilartothoseofwildtypestrains,whil
