3、hingsapriori.Henceitmakesourcognitivefacultiesitssoleconcern,totheexclusionofthefeelingofpleasureordispleasureandthefacultyofdesire;andamongthecognitivefacultiesitconfinesitsattentiontounderstandinganditsaprioriprinciples,totheexclusionofjudgementandreason,(facultiesthatalsobelongtotheoretic

4、alcognition,)becauseitturnsoutinthesequelthatthereisnocognitivefacultyotherthanunderstandingcapableofaffordingconstitutiveaprioriprinciplesofknowledge.Accordinglythecritiquewhichsiftsthesefacultiesoneandall,soastotrythepossibleclaimsofeachoftheotherfacultiestoashareintheclearpossessionofknow

5、ledgefromrootsofitsown,retainsnothingbutwhatunderstandingprescribesaprioriasalawfornatureasthecomplexofphenomena-theformofthesebeingsimilarlyfurnishedapriori.Allotherpureconceptsitrelegatestotherankofideas,*whichforourfacultyoftheoreticalcognitionaretranscendent;thoughtheyarenotwithouttheiru
