3、roTokyo,JAPANABSTRACTThispaperdescribesahighlyscalablemulti-modaltrafficsimulationplatformanditscasestudyinDublincity.ByleveragingvarioussourcesofopenandadministrativedatafortheGreaterDublinRegion,wehavebuiltacityoperatingsystemlikeplatformthatsimulatesno
4、tonlyprivatecarsbutalsopublicbusesandtrains.Ourperformancestudydemonstratesthatoursimulatorishighlyscalablebyachieving15.5timesfasterthanreal-worldtimewith12parallelthreads.Thisisthefirsteffortthathasprovidedahigh-performanceandhigh-scalabilitytrafficsimu
5、lationonadistributed-memoryenvironmentanddemonstratedthevalidityoftheapproachusingrealdatasets.1INTRODUCTIONTrafficcongestionisoneofthemostcommonproblemsfacingcityauthorities.Reducingtrafficjamsbringshigherefficiencyofhumanmobility–whicheventuallyleadstob
6、etterqualityoflifeandanimprovedeconomicenvironment.Toreducetrafficjams,manysolutionshavebeenproposed,suchasreducingprivatecarsasmuchaspossiblebyintroducingnewpolicies(highertollrates,carpools,park&ride,incentivesforusingpublictransportorbicycles),optimizi
7、ngsignalcontrolsandexpandingroadcapacitybyintroducingadditionalroadsandlanes.Eachcityintheworldhasdifferentproblemsandconstraints.Forexample,publictransportinthecapitalcityofIreland,Dublinisdominatedbybuses.Thusoptimizingbusroutes,schedules,andfaresareimp
8、ortant.Althoughmostroadsleadingtothecitycentrehavededicatedbuslanes,somepublicbusroutesconsistentlyhavedelaysmainlyaffectedbyroadswhichdonothavebuslanes.Givensomeconstraints(time,space,andfinancialcost),realisticsol
