3、oadcalculationsonthreebuildingsusinguptofifteendifferentwindloadingcodesandstandardsfromtheAsia-PacificRegion.Thelow-risebuildingisatypicalsteelportal-framedindustrialwarehousebuildingassumedtobelocatedinaruralarea.Themediumheightbuildingisa48metrehighofficebuildingina
4、tropicalcity.Thehigh-risebuildingis183metreshigh,locatedinurbanterrain.Thedesignwindspeedsatthetopofeachbuilding,andotherwindpropertiessuchasturbulenceintensitywereprescribed.Thecomparisonsshowedvaryingdegreesofagreement.Commentsonthedifferencesaregiven.INTRODUCTIONBet
5、ween2004and2007,fourInternationalWorkshopsonRegionalHarmonizationofWindLoadingandWindEnvironmentalSpecificationsinAsia-PacificEconomieswereheld.Apracticaloutcomeofthesemeetingswasacomparisonofthewindloadsonthreetypicalbuildingsevaluatedbythevariouswindloadingcodesandst
6、andardsacrosstheregion.Upto15economiesparticipatedinthecomparison.Hopefully,thiscomparisonwillleadtofutureharmonizationofwindloadingspecificationacrossthediverseeconomiesoftheAsiaPacific.Inallcasesthewindspeedsatthetopofthebuildingswerespecified.Windspeedswithaveraging
7、timesof3-seconds,10-minutesand1-hourwereallspecified,andparticipantsselectedtheappropriateonesaccordingtotheaveragingtimeusedintheirowncodeorstandard.Forthemedium-andhigh-risebuildings,firstmodenaturalfrequenciesandcriticaldampingratioswerealsospecified.Thepaperpresent
