4、vemyheartfeltgratitudetomyparents,fortheirfullsupportduringmypostgraduateyears.iiiAbstractRecently,anincreasingnumberofresearchersconductedvariousrelevantexperimentstoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenassortedkindsofmodalenhancementsandeffectsofincidentalvocabularylearningthroughr
5、eading.However,mostresearchersonlyattachedimportancetoonemodality,suchasno-gloss,singleglossorpurevisualenhancement,etc.Itisapitythatmultimodalco-ordinationsonreadingincidentalvocabularyacquisitionarenotfrequentlytouchedupon.BasedonthetheoreticalframeworkofKrashen’sInputHypothesi
6、s,ZhangDelu’sMultimodalDiscourseAnalysisTheory,andLaufer&Hulstijn’sInvolvementLoadHypothesis,thisempiricalstudyaimstoinvestigatetheeffectsofthreekindsofmultimodalcoordinationonincidentalvocabularyacquisitionthroughin-classreadingwiththesamereadingmaterialforseniorhighschoolstuden
7、ts,namely“visual+audio+speaking”,“visual+audio+writing”,and“visual+audio+writing+speaking”.Theparticipantsinthisempiricalstudyare148studentsofgradetwofromthreeparallelclassesinaseniorhighschoolofGuangzhou.Theentireempiricalstudylastedforthreeweeks.Aweekbeforetheexperiment,allstud
