6、sWalterParkernotes,‘‘principledandcompassionate,whorefrainfromharmingorexploitingothers,andwhobelieveitistheirdutybothtoprotectjustinstitutionsandtopreventinjustice.’Asignificanttraditionwithineducationaltheoryforegroundstheconcernsofdemocracyandsocialjusticeinhowweconceptualizethepurpos
7、esandgoalsofschooling.Weseethismostnotablywiththesocialreconstructionistsinthefirstpartofthetwentiethcentury,andmorerecentlyintheworkofcriticalpedagogues,culturalstudiespractitioners,andantiglobalizationactivists.Asearlyas1932,GeorgeCountswasimploringeducatorstoworktoward
