5、itedNationsin1948InternationalMaritimeadoptedaconventionestablishingtheInternationalMaritimeOrganization(IMO)asthePrizefirsteverinternationalbodydevotedexclusivelytomaritimematters.Seafarers'MemorialInthe10-yearperiodbetweentheadoptionoftheconventionanditsentryintoforceinWorkingatIMO1958,other

6、problemsrelatedtosafetybutrequiringslightlydifferentemphaseshadattractedinternationalattention.OneofthemostimportantofthesewasthethreatofProcurementmarinepollutionfromships,particularlypollutionbyoilcarriedintankers.AninternationalInternshipsconventiononthissubjectwasactuallyadoptedin1954,four
