2、Wei,LiQuanAbstractDepartmentofBACKGROUND:Moststudiesregardingscoliosisfollowingpinealectomyisperformedwithin3daysafterhatching.However,Orthopedics,whetherearlyorlatepinealectomyhaseffectonscoliosisispoorlyunderstood.ChanghaiHospital,OBJECTIVE:Toinvestigatethecorrelationbetweentheag
3、eofpinealectomyandthedevelopmentofscoliosis,meantime,totheSecondMilitarycomparethedifferencesofMelatoninlevelinbloodserum.MedicalUniversity,Shanghai200433,DESIGN,TIMEANDSETTING:ArandomizedcontrolledexperimentwasperformedattheExperimentalAnimalCenteroftheChinaSecondMilitaryMedicalUn
4、iversityfromMarch2004toAugust2006.MATERIALS:Atotalof60Shaoxingchickensweredividedinto2,4,11,or18dayspinealectomygroups,with12animalsineachYangCheng-wei★,group.Acontrolgroupandashamoperationgroupwereset.Studyingformaster’sdegree,DepartmentMETHODS:Animalsinthepinealectomygroupswasper
5、formedpinealectomyat2,4,11,or18daysafterhatching.ThepinealofOrthopedics,bodyintheshamoperationgroupwasexposedwithoutablation.Therewasnotreatmentinthecontrolgroup.ChanghaiHospital,MAINOUTCOMEMEASURES:Ventrodosalsradiogragmsofthespinewereobtainedatpermonth.Atthethirdmonth,theserumthe
6、SecondMilitarymelatoninconcentrationwasmeasuredbyELASAmethod.MedicalUniversity,Shanghai200433,RESULTS:Atthethirdmonth,theincidenceratesofscoliosisin2,4,11,or18dayspinealectomygroupswere66.7%,66.7%,China63.6%and66.7%,andtheCobbanglesaveraged32.6°,29.8°,23.8°and22.3°,respectively.The
7、rewerenosignificantdifferenceschengwyang@intheincidenceratesofscoliosisandthetypeofcurvatureamongthepinealectomygroups.Theserummelatoninlevelsattheyahoo.cnmiddleofthedarkcycleinthepinealectomizedchickensweresignificantlylowerthanthoseofthechickensinthecontrolandCorrespondenceto:sha
