4、per,Iaddressthefollowingquestions:Howhascommercializationchangedthefieldofcollegeadmissions?WhatiscurrentlybeingdonetoregulatethedomainandwhatfurtherstepscanbetakentopromoteGoodWorkinthefield?Ifirstexploredthecurrentstateofcommercializationbylookingatthebooksan

5、dotherprintedmaterialsaimedathighschoolstudentsandtheirparents.Next,IexaminedthedocumentationfromtheIndependentEducationalConsultantsAssociation(IECA)andtheNationalAssociationforCollegeAdmissionCounseling(NACAC),andtheHigherEducationalConsultantsAssociation(HEC

6、A),threeorganizationsthathaveattemptedtocodifyasetofrulesforthedomainofIndependentEducationalConsulting(IEC).Ipaidparticularattentiontotheethicalcodesofconductusedbyeachorganization.Finally,Iinterviewedstakeholdersinthecollegeadmissionsprocessusinganopen-endedp

7、rotocol.Theirresponsesweretranscribedandsubsequentlyanalyzedusingemiccoding.UsingtheemergentthemesinconjunctionwiththeGoodWorkFramework,Idrewconclusionsaboutthestateoffor-profitcounselinginAmerica,includinganalysisofthestereotypesthatexistaboutpractitioners,the
