3、gmethods,suchasthedirectmethod,phonics,situationallanguagelearning.AlotoflearnersspendalotoftimeandputalotofenergylearningEnglishwords;however,thedesiredresultisnotachieved.Inviewofthequestionabouthowtolearnandmemorizewordsinascientificandefficientway,scholarsandteachersha
4、vehaddiscussionsaboutit.Especiallyinrecentyears,attentiontotheiconicitytheorycoupledwithvocabularylearninghasbeenpaidbyscholarsandteacherswiththedevelopmentofCognitiveLinguistics.Manyscholarsathomeandabroadhaveconductedalotoftheoreticalresearchesonit.InChina,manyofthemdisc
5、ussapplicationsoficonicitytheoryonEnglishlexicalteaching.However,sofar,manyresearchesonthemhavebeenincomplete.Inviewofthissituation,basedontheiconicitytheory,thestudyfocusesonlexicaliconicity.Theauthorselected91sophomoresubjectsatauniversityin2017,ofwhom,44subjectswereinth
6、econtrolgroupand47subjectswereintheexperimentalgroup.Twoquestionsarediscussedinthisstudy.1.Doestheknowledgeoflexicaliconicitybroadenstudents’waystolexicallearning?2.Whateffectdoestheinstructionoflexicaliconicityhaveonstudents’lexicalcompetence?Thisresearchmethodemployedthe
7、questionnaireandteachingexperiments.Thequestionnairewasaimedatinvestigatingstudents’vocabularylearningmethods.ITheteachingexperimentswhichlastforfourmonths(fromSeptembertoDecember)wereaimedatprovingwhethericonicitytheoryplaysapositiveroleinlearningcollegeEnglishvocabulary.
