3、ategorizedintomoregeneralrepresentations.Whatisthenatureoftheseabstractrepresentations,andwhatdegreeofabstractiondotheyinvolve?Answerstothesequestionsareessentialforthefullunderstandingoflanguageuse.Toexploretheabstractlinguisticrepresentation,thesyntac

4、ticrepresentationinparticular,thepresentstudyinvestigatesstructuralprimingacrosslanguagesbasedonthestudiesofScheepersetal.(2011)andZengTaoetal.(2015).Structuralprimingisaphenomenonthatstructurespeoplerecentlyhaveprocessedtendtoaffectpeople’ssubsequentpr

5、ocessingofstructures.Thispaperemploysasthetargetstructures,theEnglishattachmentambiguousstructure“NP+V+NP1ofNP2+RC”usedinScheepers(2011)andChinesespecificstructure“NP1+有+NP2+很+(AP)”usedinZengTao(2015),consideringtheirsimilaritiesinhierarchicalconfigurat

6、ion.66juniorEnglishmajorstudentsparticipatedinthisstudyandquantitativeresearchmethodwastaken.Subjectswereaskedtocompleteasentencefragmentfirstandthenfinishsentencecompletionandcomprehensiontaskswhichrepresentedlanguageproductionandcomprehensionrespectiv

7、ely,toinvestigatebidirectionalproductionandcomprehensionstructuralprimingeffect.Theresultsshowed:structuralprimingeffectsexistinbothL1productionandcomprehensiontasks;thereisstructuralprimingeffectInL2productiontask,whereasnoeffectexistsinL2comprehension

8、task.Moreover,theprimingeffectinL1comprehensionisstrongerthanL1production.However,InL2tasks,structuralprimingeffectofL2productionisstrongerthanL2comprehension.Thepresentfindingconfirmsthattheattachmentheightinhierarchicalconfigur
