2、otesales.Sofar,manyscholarshavemadestudiesonadvertisingpunsfromtheperspectiveofrhetoric,semantics,cognitivelinguisticsandpragmatics.Thesepreviousstudieshavegreatvalueforpeopletoknowandunderstandpunsinadvertisingcorrectlyanddeeply.Thethesisholdsthatpunisakindoflinguisticchoicemadebytheadvertiserstoad
3、apttothecontextandalinguisticstrategytoachievespecificcommunicativegoal.IthastheoreticalandpracticalsignificancetomakethesystematicanalysisofadvertisingpunsintheframeworkofAdaptationTheory.Accordingtothetheory,thecontextcanbeclassifiedintocommunicativecontextandlinguisticcontext.Thethesismainlyfocus
4、esontheadaptationofadvertisingpunstocommunicativecontextandlinguisticcontext.Thethesisbelievesthatadvertisingpunscanberegardedasaresultoflinguisticchoice-makingconsciously.Duringtheprocess,theadvertisersintentionallymakethecommunicativecontextdynamicallyadapttotheaudience‟spsychologicalneed.Theaudie

6、alworldandadaptationtoaudience‟smentalworld.Theformerreferstoadaptationtotheadvertiser‟smotivation.Theadvertisersmustpaymuchattentiontothelinguisticchoicestoattaintheirobjectives.Thelatterreferstoadaptationtotheaudience‟sabilityofperceivingandemotiveelements.Whethertheadvertisingpunscanbeinterpreted
