2、n,andmorerecentlybytheInternetandtheWorldWideWeb.Suchgrowthwasmadepossiblebyanexponentialgrowthinelectronics.Technologicalinputsintodistanceeducationstartedwiththesimpleradioandthetransistorwhichformedthebasisforverysuccessfuldistanceprogrammesinagriculture(Radioruralforu

3、msinCanadaandIndia;SchoolontheairinLatinAmerica).Alaterdevelopmentoftelevisionenricheddistanceeducationbyopeningthepossibilitiesofincorporatingtheaudioandvisualmediumandtelevision’suseineducation,atleastinIndiarecEivedaboostwiththeSatelliteInstructionalTelevisionExperimen

4、tin1975.Distanceeducationinstitutionsdidnotlagbehindintheiruseofthelatestmediatechnologyavailableintheireffortstoreachouttostudentsirrespectiveoftimeanddistance,whetherintheOpenUniversityorinsimilarinstitutionsinGermany(Feruniversitat);NHKinJapan;ortheChineseTelevisionUni

5、versity.Broadcastofeducationaltelevisionbecamemoreflexiblewiththeuseofaudioandvideocassetterecordersenablinganytimestudyforthelearner.ThecomputerandthesatelliteconvergingtogetherpavedthewayfortheInternetandtheWorldWideWeb.Coupledwithfindingsfromresearchintothecognitiveand

6、learningsciences,wehavenowcometoanagewherewebbasedinstructionisanimmediateprecursortothevirtualuniversity,withInternetasitsplatform.Thetechnologicalpossibilitieshavemadecollaborationandcooperationamust.Itisthepurposeofthispapertoexplorestrategiesincrucialareasandvariousme
