3、assofanAvicenniamarinaforestlocatedatthemouthoftheChishuiRiver,inTainanCounty,Taiwan.Fourmangrovestandswithvariouscharacteristicsanddensitywerestudied,includingseaedgepioneer(StandIatthenorthernriverbank)andyoungmangroves(StandsIIandIIIatthenorthernriverbank;StandIVatthesouthernr
4、iverbank).Thetreeheightsofthesefourmangrovestandsvariedfrom0.9to1.2m,diameteratbreastheight(DBH)rangedfrom2.4to5.1cm,andtreedensityrangedfrom5,029to17,000treesha-1.ThedistributionofDBHwasskewedtosmallclasses,andallsampledtreesshowedreverseJ-shapeddistributions,whichsuggestedanact
5、iveregenerationinthesepopulations.Theallometricrelationshipsderivedbyregressionsofleaves,stems,branches,andtotalabove-groundbiomassvs.DBHofA.marinatrees,foreachtreecomponentwerehighlysignificant,withR2valuesfrom0.750to0.956.Totalabove-groundbiomasswasestimatedasapowerfunctionofth
6、eDBHasanindependentvariable,WT=0.1012(DBH2)+0.5402(DBH)-1.5674,whereWT=above-groundbiomass(kg).The29allometricrelationshipwasusedtoestimatetotalabove-groundbiomass,whichvariedfrom10.3tonha-1forthepioneerstage(StandI,neartherivermouth)to22.7tonha-1foramorematuremangroveattheupstre
