3、eedofprojects,andBIM’sincreasingrecognitionasanenabler,catalyst,andfacilitatorofteamcollaboration—alsopresentsignificantchallengesthatcanbeovercomewiththerightapproachandmindset.Atonetime,beinganexpertmeantknowingmorethanone’scompetitorsinaparticularfield.Firmsthatreinforcedtheirexpertcultu

4、rehoardedinformation,whichresultedinsilosofexpertise.Today,manyfirmsarelookingtohirepeopleperceivedasbuildingandsoftwaretechnologyexperts,shortsightedlyaddressingtoday’sneedsattheexpenseoftomorrow’s.Whilearchitectshavealwaysbeentreeswithmanybranches,ourcurrenteconomicclimatehasdiscouragedth

5、emfrombeinganythingbutpalmtrees:alltrunk,nobranches.Andyetthingschangesoquicklythatthosewhowenttobedexpertsareunlikelytowakeupexpertsinthemorning.Duetothespeedandcomplexityofprojects,wedonothavetimetoacquireknowledgetheoldway—slowly,overtime,throughtraditionalmeans.Evenwhenwesupplementourbo
