3、byrenownedfiguresandareratherauthoritative.Inthetranslationpractice,however,howshouldweselecttheso-calledtranslationstandardstoserveasourguidelinesinthetranslationprocessandhowshouldweadoptthetranslationstandardstoevaluateatranslationproduct?Inthemacro-contextofflourishoflingui
4、stictheories,theoristsinthetranslationcircle,keeptothegoldenlawoftheprincipleofequivalence.ThetheoryofTranslationEquivalenceisthecentralissueinwesterntranslationtheories.Andthepresentationofthistheorygivesgreatimpetustothedevelopmentandimprovementoftranslationtheory.It’snotdiff
5、icultforustodiscoverthatitisthetheoryofTranslationEquivalencethatservesasguidelinesingovernmentnametranslationinChina.Nametranslation,asdefined,isthereplacementofthenameinthesourcelanguagebyanequivalentnameorotherwordsinthetargetlanguage.TranslatingChinesegovernmentnamesintoEng
6、lish,similarly,isreplacingtheChinesegovernmentnamewithanequivalentinEnglish.Metaphoricallyspeaking,translationisoftendescribedasamovingtrajectorygoingfromAtoBalongapathoracontainertocarrysomethingacrossfromAtoB.Thisviewiscommonlyheldbybothtranslationpractitionersandtheoristsint
