2、mplementationofanewLogisticssystem,legacysatellitesystemswillremainunchangedandtoaminimumextentinterfacedtothenewLogisticsSystem.ThisapproachbuildsafoundationforfurtherimprovementsusingOracle’sproductsandservicesandisarelativelysafewaytomeetshorttermgoalsandalsosatisfylongtermstrategicobj

3、ectiveswithacosteffectiveprogram.Oraclealsorecognizesthecomplexityinbuildinginterfaceswithanumberoflegacysystems,andrecommendsHONGKONGTELECOMworkwithOracleincreatingtheseinterfacesinarapidtimeframe.Option1Phase1LogisticsoftheBusinessSupportSystemwillbepositionedasthecoreelementofHongkongT

4、elecom’sintegratedinformationsystemwhichwillallowLogisticsoperationalanalysisandforecastingatboththemanagementandoperationallevel.ThecoreoftheOption1Phase1solutionistheOracleDistributionapplicationsmodules.Theseapplicationsoftwaremodulesare“offtheshelf”applicationswhichsupportthebusinessa

5、ctivitiesofOrderManagement,Purchasing,SupplyChainPlanningandDistribution.TheseapplicationshavebeenbuiltusingstandardOracleDeveloper/2000onOracleRDBMS.Surroundingthiscorepackagewillbeaminimumsetofcustomextensionstosupportagreeduponfunctionalitygapsnotsupportedbytheproposedapplications.Init
