2、raetal2004;Repaceetal2004).PAHsentalpartmentsinremoteareassuchastheArticasconsequencesofagriculturalpractice,accidentalspillageanduncontrolledreleaseofindustrialeffluents(Halsalletal1994and2000;Drretal1996)andexistmainlyinthevaporphase.Therefore,theyhaveatmosphericlifetimesthatarer

3、elativelyshort,ontheorderofhoursordays(Brubakeretal1998;Atkinsonetal1994).IfthemajorsourceofPAHsinurbanairisanthropogenicemission,onemightassumethattheatmosphericPAHlevelsanpopulation(Hafneretal2005).　　Variousresearcheffortshavenotedsucharelationshipbetanpopulationsandatmosphericcon

4、centrationsofPAHs(Dannetal1998;Hafneretal2005;Prevedourosetal2004).Forinstance,aUSgroupfoundthatthereits)betosphericPAHcontentsandhumanpopulationsforallcontinentalsites(Hafneretal2005).InFrance,fiftyeightplesofatmosphericbulkdeposition(dryandirural,ruralandforestsitesoverayear(Gar

5、banetal2002).TheresultsrevealthatmeanPAHconcentrationsdecreasedbytplingsitelocatedabout50kmfarfromParis.AnotherUSstudydiscoveredhigherconcentrationsofphenanthrene,anthracene,floranthene,p678yrene,benzo(a)anthraceneandchryseneinspruceneedlestakenfrommonitoringsitesadjacenttothecityof

6、Fairbanksthansamplestakenfrommoreruralareas(HoptionthatthelevelofPAHsextractedfromthevegetationreflectsthetimeintegratedlevelofPAHsintheatmosphere.Takentogether,thesedataindicatethatlocalactivitiesmayproducePAHsfromeitherbustionorpetrogenicsourcesadjacenttothecityofFairbanks.　　Infl
