1、SuggestionsforCollegeEnglishListeningClassAbstractInfluencedbythetest-orientedcollegeEnglishteaching,muchmoreattentionhasbeenpaidtothereadingandwriting,andlittleattentionhasbeenpaidtotheeffectivelisteningstrategies.Asanindispensableskillofthesecondlanguageacquisition,bynomeanslis
2、teningstrategiesshouldbeignored.Yet,aftercloseobservationof4differentcollegeEnglishlisteningclassfor4weeks,theauthorfindthattheteachersinvariablyfollowsfour-stepspattern,insequencetheyare:warming-up,newwordsexplanation,listening,questionandanswers,andre-listening.Wheninterviewed,
3、theydon’tevenhaveaclearmethodologyintheirmindastohowtoconductthelisteningclassandwhatthestudentactuallyneedintheirlearning.Thispaperanalysestheproblemsexistinginthelisteningclassandputsforthsometentativesuggestionsfortheimprovementofthelisteningclass.Keywords:behaviorist,cognitiv

5、re.TheskilloflisteningisanessentialpartofcommunicationandbasictoEFLlearning.Consequently,lotsofresearchhasbeendoneregardingtheeffectivelisteningstrategies.Atthebeginning,thestressisonlanguageitself,forexample,theGrammarTranslation;then,withthelinguisticsandpsychologicaltheoryinco
6、rporated,languageincommunicationbecamethetargetoflearning,forexample,theSituationalApproach,TheAudio-LingualMethodandTheCognitiveMethod.Lateron,moreandmoreconcernofthelearnerisalsoincorporatedintolisteningstrategies,thushumanisticmethodsappeared;forexample,theCommunicativeWay,The
7、SilentWay,TheTotalPhysicalResponseandtheSuggestopedia.Yet,noneofthesemethodscouldofferasatisfactorypanaceaforallteaching;finally,eclecticwaysbecamethecommonunderstanding.Thatis,variestheteachingmethodsaccordingtodifferentsituationandneeds.Inthispaper,theauthorwillresearchintothec
