1、SuggestionsforCollegeEnglishListeningClassAbstractInfluencedbythetest-orientedcollegeEnglishteaching,muchmoreattentionhasbeenpaidtothereadingandwriting,andlittleattentionhasbeenpaidtotheeffectivelisteningstrategies.Asanindispensableskillofthesecondlanguageacquisition,bynomeansliste

2、ningstrategiesshouldbeignored.Yet,aftercloseobservationof4differentcollegeEnglishlisteningclassfor4weeks,theauthorfindthattheteachersinvariablyfollowsfour-stepspattern,insequencetheyare:warming-up,newwordsexplanation,listening,questionandanswers,andre-listening.Wheninterviewed,they

3、don’tevenhaveaclearmethodologyintheirmindastohowtoconductthelisteningclassandwhatthestudentactuallyneedintheirlearning.Thispaperanalysestheproblemsexistinginthelisteningclassandputsforthsometentativesuggestionsfortheimprovementofthelisteningclass.Keywords:behaviorist,cognitivescien

5、illoflisteningisanessentialpartofcommunicationandbasictoEFLlearning.Consequently,lotsofresearchhasbeendoneregardingtheeffectivelisteningstrategies.Atthebeginning,thestressisonlanguageitself,forexample,theGrammarTranslation;then,withthelinguisticsandpsychologicaltheoryincorporated,l

6、anguageincommunicationbecamethetargetoflearning,forexample,theSituationalApproach,TheAudio-LingualMethodandTheCognitiveMethod.Lateron,moreandmoreconcernofthelearnerisalsoincorporatedintolisteningstrategies,thushumanisticmethodsappeared;forexample,theCommunicativeWay,TheSilentWay,Th
