6、isphenomenon.Consideringthis,thepresentthesisgivesacomparativelythoroughanalysisoflanguageborrowingamongthreeofthemostcommonlyusedandstudiedlanguagesinChinaatpresent,namely,Chinese,EnglishandJapanese.Thispaperprobesintolanguageborrowing,especiallylexica
7、lborrowingbetweenthethreelanguagesfromdifferentperspectives,whichincludeahistoricalsurvey,channelsofborrowing,classificationandassimilationstudy.Withinthedomainofassimilation,itdescribestheprocessphonetically,morphologically,semanticallyandgrammatically
8、sothatmoreunderlyingprinciplesaremadeclear.Basedonthepastresearchandmydetailedanalyses,hypothesesemergeasfollows:(i)Languageborrowingisnormallyinducedbyexternalfactorssuchaspolitical,socio-economicandculturalexchange,militaryconq
