5、uageborrowingisawidespreadsociolinguisticphenomenoninthedevelopmentoflanguage.Itisoneofthemostsignificantwaysofacquiringnewwordsandenrichingthevocabularyofalanguage.Therefore,itisofgreatvaluetostudylanguageborrowingandtrytofindtheintrinsicprinciplesunderlyingth
6、isphenomenon.Consideringthis,thepresentthesisgivesacomparativelythoroughanalysisoflanguageborrowingamongthreeofthemostcommonlyusedandstudiedlanguagesinChinaatpresent,namely,Chinese,EnglishandJapanese.Thispaperprobesintolanguageborrowing,especiallylexicalborrowi
7、ngbetweenthethreelanguagesfromdifferentperspectives,whichincludeahistoricalsurvey,channelsofborrowing,classificationandassimilationstudy.Withinthedomainofassimilation,itdescribestheprocessphonetically,morphologically,semanticallyandgrammaticallysothatmoreunderl
8、yingprinciplesaremadeclear.Basedonthepastresearchandmydetailedanalyses,hypothesesemergeasfollows:(i)Languageborrowingisnormallyinducedbyexternalfactorssuchaspolitical,socio-
