3、lishlevel.Amongthem,oralEnglishisveryimportant.ButthepresentEnglishteachinginmiddleschoolsisfarawayfromrealizingthisgoal.InChina,mostmiddleschoolstudentshavepoororalcommunicativeability.“DumbEnglish”isperplexingmostEnglishteachersandstudentsofhighschool.Apartfromtheproblemsteachershave,theenvironm
4、entisalsoanimportantproblem,becauseoftheunawarenessoftheimportanceofspeaking,studentsdon’thaveenoughchancestopracticetheiroralEnglish.ThelackofatmosphereisthemostimportantreasonoftheirpoororalEnglish.Aseveryoneknows,“Practicemakesperfect!”Withoutpractice,howcantheybecomeperfect?Becauseofthat,stude
5、ntsdon’thavethehabitofspeaking.Whentheyareacquiredtospeak,manyproblemsappear,suchas:theirhandsandfeetaretrembling,thetuneoftheirvoiceischanging,thesentencesareindisorder.Manyofthemjustreciteinsteadofspeak.studentsthemselvesareblamefortheirpoororalEnglish.BecauseoftheactualitiesofChineseteaching,th
6、erequirementsoforalEnglisharemuchlessthangrammar,listening,readingandwriting.Somanystudentsdon’tpayenoughattentiontoit.Forexample,whenstudentsareaskedofthefourskills---listening,speaking,16readingandwriting,whichoneisthemostimportant,manywillchoosereadingandgrammarwithoutanyhesitation.Fewstudentsw
7、illchoosespeaking.Anotherinvestigationshowsthatonly1%studentscommunicatewithothersinEnglishafterclass,moststudentscommunicateinEnglishonceinawhile,someofthemnever.Thisshowsthatthestudentsthemselvesdon’tpayenougha
