3、tainrangelyingtoitssouth.2TheoreticalFoundations2.1TheintroductionofHenaninnatureThewestpartofHenanishigherthanthatoftheeast,geographically.InthewesttowertheTaihangMountainsandtheYuxiMountains,thelatterbeingtheeasternextensionoftheQinlingrangewhichfansouteastw
4、ard.TheFuniuMountain,1000-2000metersabovesealevel,isrecognizedastheroofofHenan.InthesouthernpartoftheprovincelietheTongbaiMountainsandtheDabieMountainswithanaverageheightoflessthan1000meters.TheyserveasthewatershedoftheHuaiheRiverandthe17YangtzeRiver.AlongtheY
5、ellowRiverbetweentheTaihangMountainsandtheYuxiMountainsdispersehillyloesslands.InthecenterofHenanstandsthetoweringSongshanMountain.IntheeastpartoftheprovincestretchesthevastHuanghuaiPlain.Withvastplainsandmoderateclimate,Henanisanimportantnationalbaseforfarman
6、dlivestockproduction.Thearablelandoftheprovincetotals8,110,300hectares,includingacultivatedlandof7,262,800hectares,accountingfor6.24%ofthatofthewholenationandranksthefourth,onlynexttoHeilongjiang,SichuanandInnerMongolia.Henanislocatedinthetransitionbeltfromthe
7、subtropicalzonetothetemperatezone.Ithasamildclimatewithanannualaveragetemperatureof15.5℃-9.5℃fromsouthtonorth,amoderateannualrainfallof1380.6-526.0millimeters,andafrost-freeperiodof265-332days.Therefore,Henanissuitableforthegrowthofvariouscropsanditisoneofthem
