3、rd-setting$14billionraisebyAntFinancialduringQ2’18andVantiv’sacquisitionofWorldPayinQ1’18for$12.9billion.Notwithstandingthetwooutlierdeals,fintechmarketactivityworldwidegainedmomentumduringthefirsthalfoftheyearasthegeographicdiversityandreachoffintechinv
4、estmentcontinuedtoexpand.Brazil,forexample,gainedsomeprominenceearlierthisyearasNubankjoinedthefintechunicornclub.France,Switzerland,SouthKoreaandJapanalsosawsignificantfintechdeals—extendinginvestmentwellbeyondtraditionalfintechleadersliketheUS,UK,China
5、andIndia.Inthemorematurefintechareasofpaymentsandlending,dominantmarketplayerscontinuedtoemergeoverthefirst6monthsof2018,attractinglargerandlargerdealsizes.Meanwhile,abroaderrangeofcompaniesfocusedonnewerareasoffintechinnovation,suchasartificialintellige
6、nce(AI)anddataanalytics,alsoattractedattentionfromfintechinvestors.Regulatoryissueshavebeenahotbuttontopicforcorporateandotherfintechinvestorssofarthisyear,particularlyinEurope,asaresultoftheimplementationofPaymentServicesDirective2(PSD2)andGeneralDataPr
