2、abelsbeimportantandcanbeuseful,thoughitisadifferentforresearcharticlesintheJournaloftheMedicalresearcharticlecategoryandneedstobepresentedLibraryAssociation(JMLA).Itstartedbecauseofsomecarefully.Ittakeslessspacetodescribeanddiscuss,confusionaboutamanuscriptlabel,‘‘fulllength,’’
3、andtheresearchsubmissioncategorymightbeasin‘‘full-length’’papers.Well,everyauthorbelievesa‘‘report’’ora‘‘briefcommunication.’’Importantly,heorshesentinafull-lengthmanuscript.‘‘WhyitcanhavejustasmuchimpactasalongerresearchwouldIsendonlyhalfanarticle?,’’oneauthorsaid.paper.Maybem
4、oreso.Indeed.So,mostoftheresearchsubmissionscameinas‘‘full-lengthpapers.’’AndwhenwereassignedsomeLABELSANDCITATIONCOUNT‘‘full-length’’articlesubmissionstothe‘‘researchToillustratethatlabelsdonotmakeadifference,wereport’’category,wegotsomepushback.Thelabel,lookedatcitationcount—
5、thenumberofcitationsan‘‘fulllength,’’apparentlysuggestedprestige,some-articlereceives—for(full-length)papers,briefcom-howgivingtoanarticleimportancenotsharedmunications,andcasestudies.Generallyspeaking,byotherarticles.Researchersthoughta‘‘researchreport’’hadlessprestigeorimport
6、ancethana‘‘full-thehigherthenumberofcitations,thegreaterthelengthpaper.’’Werejectthatconcept,soweelimi-perceptionofvalueorimpactforthatarticle.Weusednatedthe‘‘full-length’’label.Scopus.ThesamplewasallarticlesintheJMLAin2010and2011.Weloveourresearchers,andweknowweneedthemtosurvi
7、ve.But,honestly,theprestigeofInthe2010JMLA,9papersand6briefcommu-theirresearchcomesfromtheresearchitselfandhownicationsorcasestudieshadmorethan5citationwellitiswritten.Theimpactofthearticledependscountsperarticle.Highcitationcountswentto1(full-alsoonhowmanypeoplereadthepaper.Ne
