3、larelementarylinguisticfunctionsinasimulationenvironment.Thelin-guisticfunctionsaredenotationofobjectsandspatialrelations.Theyareplacedinthecontextofsimulatedaction.Asimulatedmicro-world,asitisknownfromresearchinsituatedactionandlearning(e.g.robotics),issupplementedbylinguisticexplanations
4、ofa'teacher'.Theagenthasthe(simulated)capabilityofvisualperceptionina eldofattention,ofmanipulationwithphysicalobjects,andofgen-eratingutterances,whichrelatetoperceptionandactionoftheagentitself.Thedevelopmentofthelattercapabilityisthesubjectofthelearningapproaches.Theagent'sutterancescorr
5、espondbycontenttotheexplanationsoftheteacher.Thegoaloflearningistoattributecertainnouns(e.g.vase,ball,pen,corner,window,center,
oor)toobjectsorplaces,andprepositions(in,at,between)tospatialrela-tionsbetweenthemandtocorrectlygeneratedescriptionsofactionsorscenes.Theacquisitionofdenotationsm
6、ustberealizedbyalearningmethodwhichisbasedonassociation,classi cationandgeneralization.Par-ticularattentionisplacedontheemergenceofasemanticrepresenta-tionasamediatinglevelbetweencognitiveandlinguisticstructures.Theprogressionoflanguageacquisition,thenecessaryinputbythe'teacher',thetypesof
