2、ecompromisedarachidonicanddocosahexaenoicacidsintheirplasmaandtherelationshipwithdeficiencyofthesamecompoundsintheirmothers.Methods:Thisstudywasconductedon30diabeticmothers(bothPPDandGDM)andtheirinfants.Twentyhealthyinfantsandtheirmotherswithageandsexmatchedwereincludedascontrols.Allinfant(of

3、diabeticandnondiabeticmothers)weresubjectedtoassessmentofAPGARScoring,thoroughhistorytakingandanthropometricmeasures.Lipidprofilecomponentsaswellaspolyunsaturatedfattyacids(PUFA)wereassessedindiabeticGDMandPPDandnondiabeticmothersaswellasintheirbabies.Results:Highª²densitylipoproteir(HDL)leve

4、lwasfoundtobesignificantlylowerindiabeticmothers(speciallythosewithPPD)comparedtonondiabeticones,whereasnosignificant8differencewasfoundbetweenbabiesofthetwogroups.Also,thecurrentstudyrevealedthatdiabeticmothers(GDMandPPD)andtheirbabieshadsignificantlyhigherlevelsofPUFAprecursorslinoleicacids

5、(LA)andalphalinoleicacids(ALA).PUFAarachidonicacid(AA)anddocosahexaenoicacids(DHA)werefoundtobesignificantlylowerindiabeticmothers(GDMandPPD)comparedtonondiabeticmothers,andsameresultswerefoundinthebabiesofthetwogroups.Conclusion:Neonateswithdiabeticmothers(bothGDMandPPD)havehighlycompromised
