3、tificationofthemechanismstakingplaceduringthiscomplexflowsituation.Inthepetroleumindustry,two-phaseflowcanbefoundinavarietyofsituations.Thethreemorecommonworkingfluids(oil,naturalgasandwater)canhavefourdifferenttwo-phaseflowpermutations:gas–liquid,liquid–liquid,solid–liquidandsolid–g

4、asflows.Asolidphasecanbeincorporatedtothefloweitherfromthereservoiritself(duetoeitherdrillingactivitiesorsandformationduringproduction)orfromtheformationofcomplexsolidstructuresduetotheprevailingproductionconditions(e.g.hydratesinnaturalgasfloworwaxesandasphaltenesinoilflow).Oilandna

5、turalgastransportationtypicallydealswithagas–liquidsystemofflow.Duetothedeformablenatureoffluids,thesimultaneousflowofgasandliquidinapiperepresentsaverycomplexprocess.Asaconsequenceoftheirdeformablenature,gasandliquidmayadoptawidevarietyofspatialconfigurations,usuallyreferredtoasflow
