3、nkingofUniversitiesinHongKong20091.ResearchBackground1.1Inparallelwiththe"PublicRanking"telephonesurvey,POPwascommissionedbyMediaEducationInfo-TechCo.LtdforthethirdtimetoconductthislocalschoolprincipalsurveywhichaimedtostudytheirperceptiontowardstheinstitutionsofhighereducationinHongKong.1

4、.2POPwasresponsiblefordesigningthequestionnaire,inputtingandprocessingthedatawhileMediaEducationInfo-TechCo.LtdwasresponsibleforallothersurveylogisticssuchasobtainingthecontactlistofschoolsfromthedatabaseofEducationBureau(i.e.483validaddresses),printingandmailingoutthequestionnaires,follow

5、ingupwithchasers,aswellascollectingthereturnedquestionnaires.Atotalof7keyquestionswereaskedinthisyear’squestionnaire,whichisattachedinAppendixA.1.3POPwasnotinvolvednorconsultedonhowtomakeuseofthefindingsfromthisprincipalsurveytocompiletheoverallrankingsoflocaluniversities.Thiswasthesoleres

6、ponsibilityofMediaEducationInfo-TechCo.Ltdwhowouldusuallytakeahandfulofotherelementsintoconsideration.2.ResearchDesign2.1Thetargetpopulationofthissurveywasdefinedastheprincipalsofalllocalsecondaryschoolsexcludingtheinternationalschools.Nosamplingwasrequired.2.2Thisstudywasconductedbyself-a

7、dministeredpaperquestionnaire,returnedbytheprincipalsviamailorfax.Thedatacollectionperiodstartedfrom1Juneandendedon17June,2009.Atotalof113questionnaireswerereceivedviafax.Amongstthem,112caseswereconsideredvalid.Theresponserateofthissurveywas23.2%,withastandard
